It is one of the most important mansions in Medinaceli since the late 15th century, when it belonged to the main rabbi of the Jewish community. There are indications that it was also occupied by descendants of the great Almanzor, the &#8216;Victory of Allah&#8217;. The ancient Celtiberian and Roman Occilis \u2013later madina oceli and madinat Salim, to its present name\u2013 is full of monuments and buildings, the work from the many peoples who inhabited it and who have made this town what it is today.<\/p>\n<p>Highlights include the Plaza Mayor, typical Castilian square with arcades, under which important Roman mosaics were found in the 1990&#8217;s.<\/p>\n<p>The Doge&#8217;s Palace occupies one of its sides and preserves the coats of arms of the Dukes of Medinaceli, who contributed greatly to the beautification of the village. Today it is home to the DEARTE Foundation and houses exhibitions of contemporary painters, as well as a mosaic found in one of the streets of the city and a beautiful courtyard, where you can listen to concerts and opera.<\/p>\n<p>Another side is occupied by the old alh\u00f3ndiga.<\/p>\n<p>Narrow, passageway and arcade alleys line the square, witnesses to the Arab presence next to the remains of a fortress and the fortress.
